Your Coach will evaluate your capability and select a starting point for you on day one.
From there, you'll make incremental progress - lifting a little bit more weight each time you train. Within a few training sessions, you'll notice an improvement in strength, balance, coordination, and how you feel overall.
There are no term contracts and results are guaranteed. Once our members experience what it's like to be stronger, most decide to make Senior Strength a part of their lives.
Our Coaches are the best trained in the industry. We are experts at getting anyone, of any fitness level, significantly stronger - safely and efficiently.
When you train at a Starting Strength Gym, you are assigned a Coach that is responsible for your progress. Your Coach is there to decide what exercises to perform, how to perform them, what weight to use, and how much to rest in between sets.
Increased muscle mass, improved bone density, better balance, less joint pain, and better cardiovascular health - we produce these results for every one of our trainees.
Pam Wanted to be Self-Sufficient
They don't want to rely on a caretaker as they age
"We have grandchildren, and we don't want them to have to take care of us."
"My back pain does happen less frequently... When I used to have back pain, I would trip around all day. Now, I get up and do my back exercises, and I'm fine. And I know it is because I am getting stronger."
"All I can say is the program works. That's it. It works."
Kathleen Beat Cancer
But she was weak. After falling four times in 2019, she decided to get stronger.
Since starting at the gym, she hasn't had a single fall:
"In 2020, I didn't fall. Not once. And a few of the falls in 2019, I was bruised badly. Hit my head on my own oven. It's nice not to fall now. When I teeter I catch myself and I have the strength to catch myself. I don't fall down!"
"I don't have that constantly going through my head: 'watch where you step, be careful."
Patricia was Diagnosed with Osteoporosis
Her doctor suggested medication or strength training - she chose strength training.
"I just went for my follow-up bone density test two weeks ago... The bone density in my spine has improved 7% since last year. I've also moved out of the osteoporosis range back into osteopenia."
"Since Starting Strength, I don't have back problems at all, it makes such a difference to have stronger back muscles."
"It's challenging, but within my capability."
Alexanne Had Debilitating Arthritis
She had both hips replaced and then became septic
"I never really thought that I'd get that sick in my lifetime, so it was shocking."
She decided to get stronger:
"I like being strong. It feels good. I'm more capable. It's even more important for a person as you get older than even a person in their middle age or a young person."
"Walking up stairs is much easier. I can step in and out of a bath tub without feeling like I'm going to fall. Daily activities are much easier and I don't think about them as cautiously as I could have."
